Wolfe is a darkly comic British crime drama following Professor Wolfe Kinteh, a gifted forensic scientist whose bipolar disorder fuels his ability to solve complex murders. The series plays with tone, balancing psychological insight and sharp humour, and needed a title sequence that felt as bold and unconventional as its lead.
Forensic dramas often fall into predictable visual language. From the pitch stage, I set out to challenge that. My concept focused on the ‘flight of ideas’ associated with mania, allowing images, clues and associations to collide in unexpected ways. After my style frames were selected, I developed written scenes and visual treatments that pushed for a surreal, kinetic world. The team shot experimental live action using props from the show and I art directed hallucinatory CGI moments to add surprise and scale.
Working through to final delivery with the team at Peter Anderson Studio, I built the sequence to keep audiences off balance while staying true to the show’s dark humour. The result is a vivid, modern and slightly anarchic journey through Wolfe’s mind, anchored by a bold colour palette and full screen credits that reflect his maverick nature.
