True Detective: Night Country relocates the anthology to the frozen isolation of Alaska. As a team vanishes from a remote research station, two detectives confront a mystery steeped in folklore and psychological unease. Our team's challenge was to reimagine the title sequence, introducing a world where night never lifts and the landscape feels alive.
As Senior Editor/Art Director, I unified two concepts to create a more layered and atmospheric visual prologue. One concept saw the lead actors sinking into black, glacial waters. The other journeyed across the icy tundra, encountering unsettling and surreal imagery that references the season’s themes. I edited the final sequence, shaping rhythm and tone, and colour graded to achieve a cohesive, cinematic finish. I also designed style frames for the striking final shot of the car on the water, which set the art direction for the VFX team to fully realise in animation.
